Almost Over

Tag: CollegeChris @ 8:40 am

In less than an hour I will be attending my last class as an undergrad. It’s almost sad. If I wasn’t thrilled at the fact that I never have to go to class again (pause) I might just cry!Honestly, I was and still am beginning to think that school is just a waste of time and money. I hear arguments for both. Professors tell you to go to school and class, but then say that if you go get a job, you have to look extra special, becuase businesses are looking for people with experience. IF WE DIDN’T GO TO COLLEGE AND WENT AND GOT A JOB, WE’D HAVE EXPERIENCE!!!

One prof said the reason you go to college is to “drag your ass up the food chain. The smart people aren’t smart because they went to college. They went to college because they are smart.” I agree more with the first part than the last two sentences. A lot of dumb people come to college, probably because they don’t know what else they can do.

I tell myself, “If I would’ve gotten into graphic design earlier and done with web design as a sophmore, I would have dropped out!” Whether that’s true or not, I really can’t say, I talk pretty big most of the time. I just feel like I sit in class and, either memorize facts and don’t get real-life application, or re-memorize facts and still don’t get real-life application.

College is great in theory. People go to place where people smarter than they are teach them and make them smart. However, it doesn’t alwasy play out that way. At enrollment time, I’m always excited to get into new classes—“New Venture Creation,” “Logic and Critical Thinking”—thinking that they’ll change me, but they rarely do. It’s always the same crap. “Write a business plan for a fictitious company—like one you’ll never get a job in.”

Stay in School…

one love.

Holy Crap

Well, the weekend from Hell is over. Both papers are turned in, both presentations are over. I must say that we nailed the first one; the second was sketchy. My goal this semester was to not step foot in the library. I think I was there more these past weeks than I have been my whole college career. But it’s finished. I have 4 finals (which I’m not worried about), 1 homework assignment, and 1 extra credit paper. Then I’ll be home free. No more classes, no more textbooks. Only some good reading.I still haven’t got all the links working yet. Just haven’t had time. I promise I’ll get everything working within 2 weeks. I’m going to make myself finish our site before redesigning Stillwater-Weddings.com. I have a feeling that Stillwater-Weddings is going to take off in the summer or early next fall!

As promised, I have a good post in me, I’m still formulating my words and thoughts. Promise.

one love.

Busy Weekend

Current Music — “Lola” by The KinksOkay, the site is about finished. I believe that I have the CSS working. There are probably some unneeded parts, but better too much than not enough. I just have to make the pictures, design, and links pages. I’m thinking about adding a Gallery/Works of Art type page where Jen and I can display some of our favorite books, painting, etc. She really wants it, but we’ll see.

I have some new designs I’m excited about getting up on the site. However, you’ll have to wait for the design page to be made. I’m such as tease!

If I can get past Monday, I’ll be golden. Two group projects and two presentations on the same day. But once it’s over, it’s over and finals shouldn’t be too bad. I guess I really don’t have much to say. I do have a worhwhile post in me, it’s just not ready to come out yet. Until then, don’t do anything stupid…

one love.
