VH1 Best Week Ever
This Sunday marks the year anniversary of my “VH1 Best Week Ever”. Last Oct 29th, Chris and I found out we were parents, which as most people know, was my life long dream. The excitement of that moment is something I think I will never forget. There was crying and laughing and jumping up and down, and phone calls…you get the idea. Just a few days after that, George was re-elected the President of the United States in what was a very close election and durning a time when I was living in the liberal capital of the midwest. This of course was also very exciting to me at the time as I have deep politiacal passions and a soft spot for ol’ dubya. The day after the election was my 25th birthday and that was fun cause 25 is just a cool number. That night we had a little party with Boulder friends at Bennigans to celebrate baby, Bush, and birthday. I really thought that it would be impossible to hold an ounce more of happiness.
Well, I was wrong. At the same time this year I look back and see that I am even happier this week in 2005 than I was in 2004. A lot has happened in the last year and I find myself in a place of utter contentment. First of all, having a perfect child, who at the moment is preciously sleeping in her swing, is MUCH better than being pregnant (something I found out about the second week of November last year!). She is the most amazing thing I have ever laid eyes upon, and she’s mine!?! The second thing that is more amazing this time around is that I am in Stillwater and not Boulder. Don’t think for a minute that I don’t firmly believe that is where God wanted us last year cause it was. But being there gave me a rich appreciation for my family and friends and I am blessed to know where my home is. I find myself sitting here, in my beautiful home, listening to my kid breathing in the other room, 1 missed call from a great friend on my cell phone, best in-laws in all the world on their way to my house tomorrow, a great job at my church and I think, how does life get better than this? We’ll have to see what 2006 brings!
